Thankfully this one doesn't have the offensive saccharine peachskin note that's become so common in fruity fragrances like The One, etc. Not worth buying more than a 35m L bottle for a discount, but still... Starts of balsamic, quite alluring yes and strong in that patchouli affair. Allure Sensuelle is a contradiction because it is both sexy and yet at the same time comforting. In either cases it is a bedtime fragrance...depending on who you are putting to bed. Very good signature scent that is a little bit mysterious, comforting, warm, clean, just a hint of spice and wood, and you wont smell it on every other women, like coco mademoiselle.
As a first step towards my new goal of trying out all Chanel women's fragrances, I sprayed this on in the department store, around 8 hours ago. There is definitely some overlap between this and Coco Mademoiselle (my only other Chanel encounter so far). It smells expensive, spicy, interesting and sophisticated. Where #5 is a power fragrance, Allure Sensuelle on the other hand is mysteriously sexy while at the same time it is a fragrance for cuddling your children while putting them to bed. This is one of the most powerful and intense scents to me.
It has not become heavier, but unlike the dazzling brightness and joyful sunny character of the classic Allure, Allure Sensuelle is warmer, its powdery (iris) and oriental notes are accentuated.
Its sweet notes (candied fruits) are not obtruding, but hidden in sensual spices and frankincense.
I am now really curious how the other Chanel fragrances are going to be. I have some things to say about this one sadly, and what a sad thing it is for me. One spray is enough and every time i wear this I get compliments "Wow that is such a beautiful perfume" "That perfume smells very classy" I have grown to love it and enjoy wearing it on special occasions, definitely not an everyday scent.
The heart is composed of jasmine, rose, iris, candied fruits and vetiver followed by the base notes of French vanilla, amber, patchouli and frankincense. Allure Sensuelle is my second favorite Chanel fragrance (next to Coromandel)! It reminds me a little of YSL Elle, but this is more sophisticated-smelling than that Midnight Poison dupe. The opening and heart notes scream so loud; but the dry down is really heavenly.More like a "add to the collection" not a must have! There are nice dry spices and a woody patchouli (nothing to remind you of a headshop, mind you) and a base of faint apricot and vanilla. This is much dryer and airier than I had imagined, and certainly far more casual. 3/10 for me I liked it when I tried it in the store and it sounded good on paper so I bought it, but boy do I regret this purchase!
But the vetiver doesn't work very well with other notes here. It wouldn't be my choice as it smells synthetic and agressive all together for me. They compete well, but Chanel will never make the best of any scent category. Its delicate, sexy, sensual and almost a non existent but present smell. Its warm spicy, scent of vanilla, patchouli, a little amber for me and all things delicious. I am almost screamed my house down when the scent dissappeared from my arm within minutes, but then sprayed it on my jacket and 24hrs later it is still there. I'm surprised to see no reviews that talk about Allure Sensuelle's ozonic qualities.
